It's an exciting time of the year. The weather in the east is getting warmer, days are longer and the new green bean harvest are arriving. We have 3 new offering for 2016. Keith's Special (bold and arriving shortly with new crop), McCurry's Muse (a lighter cup) and a new Tico Tomas Morning Blend ( USDA Certified Organic).

Thanks to everyone for your support. We are growing daily and making a larger impact to our mission each year.

We also offer automatic shipments of coffee so you never run out. Just send us an email if you are interested and we will set up your desired delivery dates and coffee choices. As always, 4 bags ship free.

Welcome to the new site! Many thanks to Keith Dodd for creating and donating his time for this website. His efforts speaks for itself.

Cave Bird Coffee has been growing and expanding its reach. After our latest trip to Uganda to visit the farms and work alongside the members of the farm, the sense of purpose was validated in many ways. It is hard work getting up early each day and going into the field to harvest the ripe coffee cherry. There is no equipment used, just a laborious task of bending, stretching and carrying the harvest back to the farm building to be washed, sorted and dried. Add the occasional poisonous snake, a million ants, and various insects and your day is full.

The people were hard working and thankful to be able to do something other than dig ditches for a living. This was steady work the year round, and provided economic support for the village.

Each person walked to work daily from the village 7 km. away. They always arrived early and ready to start at 7 am, working until 12 noon, then back in the field from 2 to 5 pm. It was a community in action, with everyone helping each other. This was not pay for the amount of beans picked, but a process that each person took pride in doing for the success of the farm and village.

Needless to say, coming from the US culture I was humbled. Each time I visit the farms in my travels I return home renewed, knowing that Cave Bird Coffee is worth the effort.

But, coffee would not be purchased, nor would wells be built without you. So I would like to thank each and every one from the bottom of my heart for your support since the beginning of this endeavor. Know that you are making a difference in the world and getting a great cup of coffee also!

Glen

P.S. Check out the new option of buying 4 bags of coffee for 10.00/bag PLUS Free Shipping.

openNew Website Coming Soon!! Posted: 08/12/14

Our website will have a new look with increase functionality early this fall. I've contracted with Keith Dodd of Wings of Eagles Services to completely redo my site.

Keith is a member of the same church as I, Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA, and serves on the church's Mission Committee. After hearing a presentation on my work, Keith wanted to get onboard and help by building a new website.

I'm looking forward to this new working relationship and seeing a new website materialize!
